Al is an electrical engineer with 48 years of experience. He holds BSEE and MEEE degrees from Iowa State University with emphasis in power systems. Al specializes in design and analysis of electrical distribution systems and has extensive experience with networked distribution systems. Al has taught numerous short courses and seminars across the country. He has also co-instructed graduate classes in distribution system engineering at Iowa State University. He also has served as an expert witness in many legal cases. Al has extensive training in the design and evaluation of broadband communications systems. Al is recognized as a leading expert in the design of wind farm collection systems.

Timothy G. Ernst, P.E.
Tim is an electrical engineer with 33 years of utility and consulting engineering experience. He holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from Iowa State University with emphasis in power systems and control systems. Tim specializes in power system protection and various types of power system analysis including electromagnetic transient analysis utilizing the EMTP program. He has extensive experience designing relay and control systems for transmission substations, designing protection and control systems for generation interfaces and in integration of substation protection, control, and SCADA systems. Tim has significant experience performing commissioning testing of substation and generator facilities.
